House in the Woods Military Family Retreat

On Thursday, November 14, Mike Albert will be the featured guest speaker during a tribute to Veterans at the Lewiston-Rotary Lunch Club from noon to 1 p.m. at The Village Inn, 165 High Street, Auburn.  Albert served in the Air Force from1968 to 1970 serving in DaNang, Vietnam 1969 to 1970.  Following his service duty he was employed from 1972 to 1994 at Saunders Mfg. Readfield; 1994 to 2006 at Streamlight Flashlight Company; and from 2006 to 2010 at Otis Technology (Mfg. of Gun Cleaning Kits for Military, Law Enforcement and Sporting Goods.)  All of his previous private sector work serviced the Military, Law Enforcement, Fire and Sporting Goods Markets.  Albert retired in 2010 to work part-time in a family owned A & A Hardware in Greene acquiring ownership in 2001.  The last seven years he has provided volunteer work for House in the Woods Military Family Retreat.  The volunteer committee, with support from great sponsors and teams, have raised over $170,000.00 in the past three years with The House in the Woods Hero Golf Scramble.  Albert has also volunteered for Ducks Unlimited (DU) for the past 15 years with the annual DU Banquet.  Both the Golf Scramble and DU Banquet are held at Martindale Country Club.  L-A Rotary meets every Thursday at The Village Inn, Auburn from noon to 1 p.m.  Lunch is available for $14.
